Yes! One of the reasons I love writing fanfic in this universe is that the creators make sure that detail in this universe has meaning -- the writers write that way, teh directors direct that way and the actors act that way. It's much more satisfying as a fic writer than, say, the Harry Potter universe which of course has my heart, but where writing with attention to detail to build worlds feels at times silly, because JKR is not a detail oriented writer outside of her devices. She is never telling a story of place, only action set in a place that might be interesting if you knew its actual construction.
