Thank you for reading and commenting (and your love of the series); we appreciate it greatly.
Sorry however that the d/s didn't work for you! To explain where we were coming from: I guess, in a lot of ways, we have been, throughout this whole series, using sex as another -- perhaps even primary -- avenue of communication. Which is why they're so porny in general; they are guys who don't talk to each other that much. So, in this segment - where we were actually trying to show the two of them healing after Many of My Favorite Things Are Broken - we have Jack & Ianto spending a lot of time having those post coital conversations about their past that you do, idly, when you're first falling in love with someone and everything is new.
As for the d/s:
One could say, that for Jack it's merely a way to escape himself, emotional attachment and the bleak fate of living forever; and that Ianto would do anything for him.
I think this is much more true for the sex in Many Of My Favourite Things Are Broken actually. In this one, though, Jack's not so much dealing with relationship fallout via Torchwood & Ianto -- he's recovering from things that happened outside it - i.e. the events of "Journey's End." Jack left the Doctor - arguably most important person in his life -- feeling as if he'd disappointed him. He's still all burnt up about "letting" Tosh & Owen die. He feels like all of those things are his fault. And he wants to let go of it. That's where he's coming from. It's not about his relationship with Ianto at all, really. On the other hand, Ianto, as always, wants to do whatever he can to a) assert his importance in Jack's life, and b) provide whatever Jack needs in any circumstance.
This all aside from the fact that they both have kinky sides, and just think it's pretty hot.
While power games are never gonna be absent from the lives of these boys (impossible to avoid when the power between them is so continually imbalances), I don't see them as having a traditional D/s relationship per se. They switch things up a lot.
Anyway, hopefully you will enjoy the forthcoming segments more =) Thanks again for your feedback.
