I am in awe. Utterly brilliant, intelligent, captivating writing. I love this story.
Your evolution of Jack into Boe over aeons is so believable; it's of course hard to imagine a consciousness existing longer than the current existence of humanity. But this seems completely apt.
All of your characters are so real and true in this. I wish i could compliment you more eloquently.
I always find the paradox between Ianto and Jack and their response to time interesting. Jack impatient yet with so much time; Ianto so patient even though he could be snuffed out in a moment.
And this chapter, so emotive, so heart-breaking. I don't know why Boe upsets me so much. I went to the DW exhibition at Earl's Court in London in the summer with my kids, and that was the one thing I could barely bring myself to look at. Maybe because I associate Jack with all that is physical. But as I say; he has aeons to evolve and his temperament is as different as his appearance, even though he still has essence of Jack (like old cologne?) Bloody hell; I'm going to shut up now and read some more ...
