Maybe it comes from years of life in the HP fandom, but we're so used to dealing with canon as this thing to solve, that FoB immediately made sense to us because we reflexively filled in the blanks.
We definitely worried that people who had been along for the ride would get off the train here even while this piece, which I refer to as the knitting of the story, is critical to the story we're wrapping up between Jack (in Jack-like form) and Ianto. So this is a tremendous relief to us.
Also, thank you, so much for mentioning things that are resonant or important to us as writers: we're both extremely cadence focused and our editing process is, as much as anything, for sound. We don't want this to read like two people wrote it. Also the thing about the hands and the torture was one of my favorite small things in this piece, so I'm glad it held echoes and sorrow for you.
We're hoping to have the last installment by the 15th. Thank you so much for this feedback, it's just so exciting to us. Telling this story is one of our great pleasures, so is knowing that it is being heard.
