While I was napping, Michael Jackson died?

WTF?

Could the world stop changing just when I've closed my eyes, thanks! More to say later, after I've washed my face and am convinced I didn't port dimensions in my sleep.

I'd been having a debate over dinner with a friend about the differences between growing up in the '60s (her) and the '70s (me) and came home to discover the icons of my youth were dead.

Hate to tell you but Farrah Fawcett died today, too. I think they both suffered long enough in their own ways. RIP. :(

I grew up in the 70s also.
Today two of its biggest icons died and I'm feeling more than a little bereft. I first fell in love with Michael Jackson when I was 9 and he was 11, that makes me a fan of 40 years.
I'm allowing myself to be a complete woobie today.

Dude! We were at dinner before the theater when I heard checking my email on my mobile. I thought it was a joke. If we're going to port universes, can we get one with less cancer?

I know, it is so deeply bizarre.

... I'm just kind of at a loss for words.

Yeah, it's flipping crazy's what it is.

I'm not sad for them... but more for the changing landscape. I'm having one of those STOP THE WORLD I WANT OFF days.

I'd not describe myself as a fan of either per se, but they were the warp and weft of my childhood. it feels deeply bizarre.

*hugs*

I know, right??? Crazy.

What did you see?

I saw Swan Lake @ ABT the other day. My god, Gillian Murphy can do those fouetté turns like nothing on earth. Jesus.

I've started to figure why I'm so affected, not in terms of sadness but in terms of my world shifting. I may post on it later this evening.

yes, that's the phrase: "the warp and weft of my childhood." That's it exactly.

*g* Thanks.

...I kinda like it too.

Although is it a mixed metaphor? (No, maybe that would only be if the phrase itself was mixed. But what's the audio equivalent of a woven thing? Inquiring minds want to know.)
