the weather knows it's april fools...
had an absolutely lovely sunday.
d. and i went out to Just a Taste (probably our last extravagance for quite some time) and had the most delicious food...
a portabello mushroom "sausage" over roast polenta, a spinach salad with red peppers, romano cheese and strawberry vinegarette, grilled flank steak with shredded potatoes baked with cheese and sour cream, and haricots vertes, and a chicken and black bean chili in a tortilla bowl. to finish, we had a chocolate souffle, and strawberry ginger gelee with pineapple and whipped cream. ooh and ginger beer. so much better than ginger ale.
then we saw monsoon wedding...which d. really seemed to enjoy, and i thought was still completely excellent the second time round. when we got out of the movie theater, it was raining softly, but the evening was balmy, so walking home was really nice. afterwards it seemed anti climactic to huddle in the house, so we wandered back outside and walked some more just for the hell of it.
we did a lot of talking about future plans. i'm obsessed right now with thinking about where to apply for grad school...it's (hopefully) going to be the next five years of my life, and i'd really like it to be somewhere good. i'm leaning heavily towards San Francisco, it's somewhere i've always wanted to live, and it also has really good schools...but there are some other options that d. and i have to think about. all of this is dependant on them giving me money, 'cause i'm going to need lots. sigh.
today has been characterized by strong winds, and weird bursts of runlight interspersed with cloud cover. very strange and chilly april weather. i saw some small little asian guy running around wearing a trenchcoat and a black and silver jester's cap and carrying stacks of chemistry books. scary. i'd think it was an april fool's thing, but i've seen him scurry around before.
