ridiculous pauses

thursday, although i was so tired that i had to prop my eyelids open with toothpicks,
i went to the John Ashbery reading up at school.
i discovered that i appreciate his poems much better on the page.
why is it that poets by and large, have so little conception of how to not murder their poems.
ludicrous pauses, and no inflection: who decided this would be a good idea?
added to this of course was the fact that he was not gracious in the slightest.
sigh. well, i suppose i'm still glad i went.

today i must do taxes, and assorted homework and job related research.
plus figure out some way to pay the cable bill, when i have $8.64 to my name.
fun fun fun fun.
and i am having a strange and unholy craving for sausages.

Just because some people can write really well doesn't mean they can public speak to save their lives. I think I can write well enough, but my public speaking skills.. well yeah, no one is going to be knocking on my door to invite me as a guest lecturer anytime soon. :)

Too many otherwise subtle creatures seem to have attended the William Shatner school of public emoting, 'tis sad but true.

*raises an eyebrow*
