Hmm... well. This is a prequel to the rest of our series (and has a big Jack/Doctor component as well). It's sort of designed to show where Jack has come from pre-Torchwood; in some ways, the Jack in our 'verse has been parented by Rose and the Doctor; they've shaped him (in good ways and bad, by their affection for and betrayal of him) into the person that you see in Torchwood canon, and in the rest of our story.
Have you been reading the rest of I Had No Idea I Had Been Traveling? Because if you have, then in the next installment (after our Ianto prequel!), the Doctor is going to pay our story a little call. And we thought it'd be good for y'all to have some idea of what we thought their (Jack and the Doctor's) relationship started out like. Even though this is a Jack/Ianto story, and our Jack certainly loves Ianto very much, what he knows about love, in a lot of ways he learned here.
