Yeah, it's a bit bizarre, this person. I know many authors who quietly object to fanfic [they're MINE, please don't play with them] but not in such a crazy, crazy way.
Although, to be fair, there are certainly fandoms where I feel people are invested in creating fanwork to correct the mistakes of the original, rather than in pure appreciation. But love -- for the characters and the world -- is certainly always a part of it, and I don't understand authors not being flattered by it.
