All things considered, a good year. Emblematic of this, perhaps, is the fact that I don't even have time to do a proper year-in-review post because I've got to get ready to go out clubbing.

Still:

I am so over 2007; Roll on, 2008. Please, please be better. :-)

Things I was(am) thankful for in 2007: Two really great theater experiences- Romeo & Juliet at Shakespeare in the Park; Kit Marlowe's Edward II. Some really fabulous food. Writing various bits of fiction. Passing my orals. Finishing my prospectus. My parents. Daniel. Beloved friends. My ipod. Throwing a kick-ass Halloween party. Creating costumes out of practically nothing for numerous occasions. Meeting real!live!authors. Wizards. Dancing. Switching to kidlit. Finding my new advisor who I adore. Teashops. Snuggles. Television.

New Year's Resolutions: I will relax and calm the fuck down. I will take care of my body. I will not sign up for more things than I can handle. I will rest. I will have fun. I will see my friends. I will work on my novel. I will write more fic. I will appreciate living in New York more. I will not freak out at this next round of physical ailments. I will make my study habitable (and keep it that way.)

2004

This year I...
was 24.
ended a relationship...except not really.
graduated from college, though never was actually sent my diploma, making me 0 for 2 on the expensive pieces of paper front.
left Ithaca.
moved back to new york, and became alive again.
began graduate school.
realised that I am really not a white-picket-fence girl, as I sometimes imagine.
read a lot of fanfiction.
became severely ill only twice.
discovered I am more physically defective than I thought, but dealt with it in a reasonable and timely fashion.
went to my first Pride, and had a glorious time.
protested the government.
protested the war.
cried, with actual tears, over something political and not immediately personal.
actually voted in a real voting booth instead of by absentee ballot.
raced on camel-back (and won).
rode an elephant.
made at least four new friends.
traveled to: Jaisalmir, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Calcutta, Agra, Delhi, London, San Diego, Santa Barbara, Seattle.
was paid to travel somewhere, for the first time.
moved back in with my parents, which is alternatively fun, safe, and intellectually stimulating, and horrifically unpleasant, depending on the day, or hour, or minute.
earned enough money to (sort of) support myself.
re-discovered the regency period, and watched as the whole world seemed to converge on it, joyously.
learnt to play whist.
got a cellphone, and joined the age of communication.
killed three computers and resurrected two.
drank absinthe (and enjoyed it greatly).
was intrigued, by many possibilities.
went to see four extremely good plays, and two very bad ones.
joined a gym.
began learning medieval welsh.
started two novels.
wrote one poem.
wrote three long essays on Shakespeare, Ursula Le Guin, and the Mabinogion.

movie, book, television and music list to follow tomorrow.
Now must flee to small gathering thing.

Happy New Year, Everyone. I hope this coming year is a more compassionate, safer, and better one than the last - for all of us. Blessed be.
