so i was reading random LJ's, a dangerous pastime i know, but anything to procrastinate, right?
at any rate... i was reading this one journal, and it was basically this guy talking, fairly literately about his several committed relationships with men, and as well his relationship with this one girl who is his "little girl" and who he owns.
i was entertained enough to keep reading, and then suddenly there's this entry where he describes in detail how he just had his first day as a junior in high school. and i must confess, i was slightly taken aback. i must be getting old, but that just seemed awfully young to me. i couldn't even keep one relationship going in high school...let alone, 3 or 4. and it seems to me we played enough mind games without actually having to go near predefined ones.
[livejournal.com profile] sykii, [livejournal.com profile] prosicated, help me out! was this stuff going on around us too, and did i just somehow miss it?
(this of course ignores the fact that horny teenagers have great fantasy lives which they often like to think are real.)

It Wasn't Going On In My Day!

Pardon me, I'm exerting my crone privileges. I shall refrain from spitting snuff on the floor out of courtesy.

I think it is sad yet wonderful that this is happening. I would like to see children remain children longer, and not develop the emotional maturity required to carry on this way so early. Yet, if they start out bi and poly and so on, it will be as the air they breathe when they grow up, and not so subject to society's growing pains in these areas.

They got this way via media exposure, particularly entertainment industry tie-ins.
