long promised
Jan. 13th, 2003 02:08 pmSo...
San Diego: We had a wonderful vacation. Full of fun, laughter, sun, sand and sea. It was much needed. Yule was splendid. D's mother cooked wonderful homey food, and we ate and ate. Mexican food at least once a day. It was good to see old friends,
maatling and Aaron especially. I met some of D's dearest friends: J & S and we got along famously. They are good people, real grown ups, fun and friendly, and their love for each other and D. makes them a pleasure to be around.
As for
katling, i did meet her baby, and he is awfully cute, but i don't think we'll be seeing each other again.
and that's fine. It's an astonishing feeling when a veil is lifted from your eyes, and suddenly you see that you've been spending valuable energy and effort on something that is worthless and was never really there. I am sad for the waste, and disappointed with myself for being so silly over nothing, but in another sense, it is a great relief to be free of it. Infatuation with nothing happens to the best of us, I suppose, and escaping unscathed but for a slight feeling of irritation and disgust is fortunate. At any rate, none of this ruined our vacation for me in the slightest.
New Year's was amazingly fun. We went to a house party where J. was spinning. Ma'at and Aaron were there as well, and it was wonderful to party with them...I've missed those boys a great deal. S. and I did shots in the kitchen, and D. and I even danced some together, which is a rare thing, and it was very nice. No drugs, and it was totally mellow. Maybe next year, we'll have riotous orgylike new year's, but for this year, it was incredibly pleasant. drama-free.
I dyed a rainbow streak in my hair as well. All in all, a profitable and relaxing vacation.
Work: Ever since we came back, I've been working non-stop. I am running sound for the run of A Perfect Ganesh and we've been in tech ever since I returned. Long days that seemingly have no end. I am tired with it. I did however have to record a radio ad for the show, which is pretty cool. I don't suppose I'll ever hear it as I never listen to the radio, but the idea of it is neat. I love my job, but these 12-hour days are getting old. School starts on the 20th and I haven't even touched my thesis. Ah well, I've got a year to complete it, so I guess that's okay. When we got back, I started my period, and I think PMS hit me like a freight train. I was hormonally so messed up, crying and screaming at the drop of a hat, aura pulsing wildly over nothing. I couldn't control it at all. It was terrible. It seems to have passed, however, which is good. I hope I'm not speaking too soon...
Miscellaneous: My parents are in India, and it's amazing how much I miss them. Even though we don't live together, I'm used to talking to them at least 2 or 3 times a week. I guess that's childish, but I can't help myself.
The Two Towers continues to make my heart race. I haven't been so involved with a movie since I discovered Star Wars (The original trilogy). Every time I see it (we went to an 11:30pm showing a couple of nights ago) I love it more, and discover new nuances in it. It's deviations from the books offended me at first, but I've gotten over it. I've turned into a real little fan girl. Strange.
Anyway, I suppose that's about it from here.
I miss all my friends, LJ and otherwise, and I hope everyone's doing well.
Hopefully, I will be able to update more often now.

Date: 2003-01-13 11:40 am (UTC)i need to see it again soon; only financial circumstances keep me from utter and complete geek-immersion.
there's nothing childish about wanting to speak with parents you love regularly. if anything, think of your maturity level now vs. when you didn't want them around.
