The Writer's Strike

I have to admit that I'm running in fear from the spectre of reality t.v. taking over the World. Nevertheless - if you've a moment, and are passing by Rockefeller Center - consider bringing the writers a cup of coffee or a snack. The thought of not finding out what happens on our shows is daunting to say the least - but that doesn't change the fact that writers deserve to reap the benefits - new media and otherwise - of what they create.

Yeah. And I don't know if we've talked about this, but SAG is my second union as I was in Communications Workers of America when I worked at the AP. And I found that to be anachronistic and unhelpful and just a scam really and it made me really anit-union. But SAG has seriously gone to bat for me and made my life better/safer/more stable for it and it's made me really pro-union. I feel like the creative unions don't necessarily get respect because people view them as protecting rich stars who don't need it, but performers and writers would be fucked without it. SAG is not on strike with WGA (although we may wind up striking soon over something else) but we do go out to the picket lines to support them.
