Crowley hates Elgar and so do I

Maybe it will become some sort of habit.
Last night/today - I was press-ganged into accompanying my father to the New York Philharmonic @ Avery Fisher Hall. I thought it was going to be unfortunate a) because I was kinda sick and b) still slightly hungover from the night before during which I had drunk quite a lot of whiskey. Also because I was tired and loathing people in general, and basically just wanted to stay home and watch Stargate: the Complete Series which had fortuitously arrived in the mail on Friday.
The evening actually turned out to be unfortunate because a) Elgar b) it's always bad when the violin soloist has to tune his violin mid-movement and c) my father and I were the guests of a boorish old friend of his - who spent the evening making crass, off colour jokes. I'm not against off colour jokes. Really. And the jokes about how he and my dad were being gay in the men's room, so I shouldn't worry if they were some time, because he "likes to watch" really didn't bother me. Much. However after the concert (2nd half was Copland who is cheezy but fun - esp. "fanfare for the common man") when we were joined at dinner by another friend of mine, and then, when we (my father, my friend and I) were trying to escape, and he started making jokes about how kinky-sex the three of us were going to get? That was kind of disgusting. This guy, btw, has known me since I was about a year old.
Anyway, we did escape. And dragged my dad out with us, and ended up at some Irish pub on Ninth Ave. drinking scotch. That part was actually pretty fun.
