...please spare some. Daniel's cousin, Brian -- younger, just about my age -- is in the hospital, after having suffered two strokes and a heart attack. He is waiting for open heart surgery right now; chances he will survive this look... well, you can imagine.

Daniel is, naturally, freaking out a bit. Something of an understatement. I don't even know what to say.

Things are a little rough round here.

If you have any good thoughts to spare. You know.

Life seems so fragile right now.

Somehow it's always hard when it happens to people who are so young, I think. I feel worst for D's aunt, I think. I mean, watching something like this happen to your kid's got to be the worst thing ever, bar none.

Believe me; now I have children of my own, I understand that completely. Let's hope he's strong and will pull through without any long term ill effects. Clearly he's surrounded by a lot of love, and that's got to be helping him somewhere inside himself.
