as always i am not finishing everything i set out to do.
my house is not deep cleaned, although it is picked up, courtesy of a certain lovely boy.
and it's even got a little not-picked-up because i've been working pretty much non stop since it was cleaned.
i feel kind of bad. not out of any religious guilt, exactly.
just because it's a ritual that i approve of.
cleansing your environment, cleansing your mind.
i need that. and i didn't get to it because i was too busy.
i feel small.
but now i should get back to work.
and after that i will take my shower, and then buy some supplies, and go down to d's house where we will drink mulled wine, eat bread and cheese and fruit, and feast on fresh honey cakes which i will make.
the recipe is
1/2 cup sweet white wine
2 tablespoons sugar
1 egg
1 cup honey
2/3 cup flour
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
Oil for frying
1/8 teaspoon salt
Beat the wine & egg in a medium bowl. Combine the
flour, cinnamon, salt & sugar in a small bowl. Stir
into the egg mixture. Let stand 30 minutes. Combine
the honey & nutmeg in a small bowl. Heat 1/2-inch of
the oil in a frying pan until hot, but not smoking.
Drop the batter into the oil 1 tablespoon at a time;
fry until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Dip
into the honey.
then i think we'll wander to the gorge, and leave a couple for the faeries.
and then lots of candles, and well, the proper thing to do tonight.
happy mayday and labor day to everyone, and
a happy beltane to everyone who celebrates such things.
peace be with you all.
