sleep of strangeness
Aug. 29th, 2002 05:25 pminsomnia hit me like a truck last night.
full on tiredness, huge face cracking yawns, and still i lay there tossing and turning.
i hate that.
when i finally fell asleep, i had the strangest dreams.
i was dressing
sykii in a sari, trying to match the colors to the tattoos she had on every inch of her skin. strange thick geometric line drawings drawn all over her arms and skin in dark purples and blues. somehow i wandered out to a sunlit kitchen scene where i discovered a man in a food processor. i thought he was all the way blended, but it turns out that only the top parts of his flesh had been taken off, and though he had no face, he could still make sounds with his mouth hole.
i remember being surprised that his flesh was the shade of chicken. pinkish yellowish peachish. i kept wondering where the rest of the blood was. (later today, d. told me that people are white meat, so i guess it made a weird sort of sense.)
upon waking, i learned that i had been sleeping with my eyes wide open. it was the weirdest thing, waking up, not needing to open my eyes, and then suddenly all the crazy vision pictures resolving themselves into sight. for a second, i knew what it would be like to see and not have the mental capacity to resolve it into accurate information.
