blackout party

fictionalwell, that was interesting.
i am not traveling to new york today. hopefully will make it at some point tomorrow.
last night was spent gorge-swimming to escape from brutal heat, which was fairly delightful compared to how most of my home-friends & family must have spent it. then found the one diner that was open in town and munched cinnamon toast. followed by a party and 'drew, karl and becky's place. susannah even brought her accordion, and took requests! we ate up all the pressed apricot and hot tamales ever and told ghost stories while smoking copiously. afterwards we made plans for a buffy evening tonight, should the power be restored, and all woke up abominably late today because we had not set our alarm clocks even though the power came back at two.
it was very ghost-town-esque, and the looters and pillagers were actually very polite (the ones we ran into on the street anyway) and they nicely asked us if we would like to join in. the answer was of course no (well, it was "of course" for me anyway...)
i wonder why the hell it all happened...
and now, back to work, and my article on children's theater for the Ithaca Child...
