I'm, uh, medicating with more, uh, green and combustible items. I'm pretty close to comfortably numb. Perhaps at some point soon, I might... eat a brownie. I'm off sugar, but it may just be that kind of day.

Don't know that I will leave the fandom. I will go on a fixit fic binge pretty soon, I expect. As will others. I think right now people are purely reactive and lashing out.
The real fallout will be waiting for if/when a new series will be made, what shape it will take, and if anyone will care in the 18 months it takes them to get it together. Some people will move on to other things, I think.
I maintain that he's not permanently dead. The BBC aren't morons; they're not going to kill off a character who's second in popularity only to JB. To do so would piss off the fandom to the extent there would be no Season 4.
They may use his death as a cliffhanger to lead into Season 4, but he's not permanently dead.
You know, I'd say that, but I think RTD doesn't care so much about the fandom, as he does the audience. And for them it was romantic and agony and tragic, but not boycott worthy, y'know?
It seems to me the show is gone. There is no one left except Jack, a sadly impotent and some what emasculated Jack. Lets face it he has done nothing but die this season. Gwen and Ianto are the heros. Even after they rescued him they were still doing the leading. He mostly complained about the clothes. There is no hub, no Owen, no Tosh, no Ianto , no Gwen, no Mfanway, no Janet. Everything Torchwood was, is gone. The only way they could possibly resurrect it, that I can see, is for the Doctor to take Jack back and plunk him back in time when it all was there. On a lighter note. They all live in fan fiction. People like you can keep them all alive and safe.
